Experienced SLP — Experience-matched compensation + advancement (Winters)

  • Experienced Slp
  • Winters, CA
  • $90,000–$116,000 / year
  • Full-time
  • School

You're too experienced to keep being treated like a new grad and too skilled to keep doing the same thing for the same pay.

About this role

You're too experienced to keep being treated like a new grad and too skilled to keep doing the same thing for the same pay. The roles at this level are designed around that inflection point.

Winters is a small district (Winters Joint Unified, ~1,400 students) where you're the SLP — not one of fifteen. Fewer IEP meetings per week, deeper relationships with each kid's family, and a 10-minute drive from Davis.

Your day runs on the school calendar — 7:45am to 3:30pm across your Winters-area sites, with prep time, lunch, and a real summer off (not "extended school year mandatory"). Caseloads are capped at 55 IEPs with a dedicated assessment day each week where you're not scheduled for sessions. Service-delivery grid is yours to run; IEP meetings run 2-4 per week in peak season with a coordinated SpEd team that shows up prepped.

What this role looks like

  • Compensated mentorship time when you start supervising CFs — paid, not piled on top of your caseload
  • Direct input on clinical protocols and material purchases — you shape the practice, not just execute it
  • 68% of our mid-career hires promoted within 2 years; tracked, not aspirational
  • Average 23% salary bump in year one for hires coming from staffing agencies or district positions

Who thrives here

This role is for the SLP who knows they're ready for more responsibility but hasn't seen a clear path to it. We have advancement tracks (Senior, Lead, Clinical Supervisor, Director) with real pay bands — not vague "opportunities for growth."

Highlights & benefits

  • Caseload caps written in — 40-50 clinic or max 55 IEPs
  • Pick your specialty focus; we flex intake
  • $2,500/year CEU budget + specialty-cert stipends
  • Clear advancement tracks (Senior, Lead, Supervisor)
  • Winters JUSD — small district, deep family relationships

Requirements

Required

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an ASHA-accredited program (CAA)
  • CCC-SLP (ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence) — active, in good standing
  • Current California SLP license (out-of-state clinicians: we reimburse the CA license fee and help you through the application)
  • Minimum 2 years of post-CF clinical experience (3+ preferred); pediatric experience strongly preferred for clinic-based roles
  • California Speech-Language Pathology Services Credential (CTC) — required for school-based placement. Out-of-state SLPs: we'll help you apply via CTC's out-of-state pathway (allow 6-10 weeks).
  • DOJ/FBI Live Scan fingerprint clearance, TB clearance within 12 months, current CPR certification (we reimburse renewal)

Nice to have

  • Prior EMR experience (TheraNest or Homecare Homebase)

About Speech Therapy Consulting, Inc.

Speech Therapy Consulting, Inc.

Speech Therapy Consulting, Inc. is a California-based speech-language pathology practice that hires the way we wish someone had hired us. Clinicians get real supervision, fair caseloads, and a leadership team that still sees patients.

We run pediatric clinics, school contracts, and home-health caseloads across Northern California — and we staff them with SLPs who stay because the work is good, not because we trapped them in a non-compete.

Frequently asked questions

How long does the application process take?

Most candidates hear back within three business days of applying. After a 20-minute intro call, we schedule a working conversation with the clinical lead — usually wrapped up inside two weeks from first contact to offer.

Will I hear back if my application isn't a fit?

Yes. Every applicant receives a direct reply — a yes, a no, or a 'not right now, here's why.' We read every application ourselves; no ghosting.

Can I apply to multiple roles?

Absolutely. If more than one posting looks like a fit, apply to whichever resonates most — we review candidates holistically and will surface other openings that match your background during the first call.
