Under federal law (IDEA), you have the right to an independent educational evaluation. Here are common reasons parents request one.
You feel the school's speech evaluation didn't capture your child's true abilities or needs. The testing seemed rushed or incomplete.
The school evaluation didn't include classroom observation, teacher input, or curriculum-based assessments. Important areas were left out.
Your child was found ineligible for speech services, but you believe they need support. You see the struggles at home and in school every day.
You want an experienced, independent SLP to assess your child without school district constraints. You want the full picture before making decisions.
We conduct thorough, defensible evaluations designed to give you clear answers and actionable recommendations.
We discuss your child's situation, the school evaluation, and your concerns. We help you understand your rights and options before you commit to anything.
We review existing IEP documents, school evaluations, progress reports, and educational records. This helps us design a targeted, comprehensive assessment.
Our assessment includes classroom observation, standardized testing, parent and teacher interviews, and curriculum-based assessment. We evaluate all areas relevant to your child's educational needs.
You receive a thorough report with findings, educational recommendations, and proposed IEP goals. Our reports are designed to stand up to review and clearly explain what your child needs.
We can attend IEP meetings and explain our findings to the school team. We present data clearly and professionally to help your child get the services they need.

Families who needed answers — and got them.
"The school said our son didn't qualify for speech services. The independent evaluation found significant language needs they missed. He's now getting the support he deserves."— Patricia & John H., Woodland
"The report was incredibly thorough — classroom observation, standardized tests, everything. Our advocate said it was one of the best she'd seen."— Deborah M., West Sacramento
"They didn't just test our daughter — they explained exactly what the results meant for her education. The IEP team couldn't argue with the data."— Mike & Teresa C., Davis
You know your child. If something doesn't add up, trust that instinct. An independent evaluation gives you the data you need to advocate effectively.
An Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE) is an assessment conducted by a qualified professional who is not employed by the school district. Under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), parents have the right to request an IEE if they disagree with the school's evaluation. The school district may be required to pay for it.
When you formally disagree with the school's evaluation, the district must either fund the IEE at public expense or file for a due process hearing to defend their evaluation. Many districts agree to fund the IEE. We can help you understand the process and your rights under IDEA.
An IEE is typically more comprehensive. We aren't limited by school district timelines or caseload pressures. Our evaluations include classroom observation, multiple standardized assessments, parent and teacher interviews, curriculum-based analysis, and a detailed written report with specific educational recommendations and IEP goals.
The school district is required to consider the results of an IEE in any decision about your child's education. Our reports are written to be clear, thorough, and data-driven. We present findings in a format that IEP teams can act on, with specific recommendations tied to educational impact.
Yes. We can attend your child's IEP meeting to present our findings, answer the team's questions, and help translate evaluation results into appropriate goals and services. Having the evaluator present strengthens your position and ensures nothing is misinterpreted.
The evaluation process typically takes 2-4 weeks from start to finished report. This includes records review, testing sessions, classroom observation, and report writing. We prioritize thoroughness over speed, but we also understand that timely results matter for IEP decisions.
We conduct independent evaluations for families in Dixon, Vacaville, Fairfield, Davis, West Sacramento, Woodland, and Winters. We work with school districts across Solano and Yolo counties.
A thorough evaluation is the first step toward the right services. Let's talk about your situation.
