Autism & Social Communication Specialist SLP — social communication + naturalistic intervention (Woodland)

  • Specialty Slp
  • Woodland, CA
  • $98,000–$126,000 / year
  • Full-time
  • School

The problem is that your current employer treats it as a side interest instead of a caseload assignment.

About this role

You've found your focus area. The problem is that your current employer treats it as a side interest instead of a caseload assignment. This specialty role flips that: your specialty IS the caseload, and the pay reflects it.

Woodland Joint Unified serves a richly bilingual (Spanish-English) student population — if Spanish assessment or dual-language therapy is something you want to develop, Woodland is the placement where that actually happens.

Specialty school SLPs in Woodland run a protected caseload built around your focus area — typically 25-35 students in the specialty plus cross-site consultation on complex cases the generalist SLPs flag. Assessment days are higher-premium; service delivery is yours to structure. School calendar, real summer, prep time, lunch.

Specialty focus: autism-focused social communication, naturalistic developmental behavioral intervention (JASPER, ESDM), AAC implementation for minimally-verbal kids, and ADOS-2 trained assessment — +$7,500 specialty bonus.

What this role looks like

  • Mentorship slot — you can supervise CFs or guide junior SLPs in your specialty (compensated separately)
  • Material + resource budget specifically for your specialty (AAC apps, feeding supplies, voice tools)
  • Clear path to "Lead Specialist" at 2+ years — protocol ownership, internal CEU delivery, peer consult
  • Protected caseload built around your specialty — we flex intake so 60%+ of your cases match your focus area

Who thrives here

The specialist roles work for SLPs who've found their focus — CAS, feeding, AAC, fluency, bilingual, voice, autism — and want intake and caseload structure built around it. Instead of being the "generalist who sometimes takes the hard cases," you're the dedicated specialist with protocol ownership.

Highlights & benefits

  • Cross-site consultation at a premium rate
  • Protected specialty caseload (60%+ focus-area cases)
  • Specialty bonus $5K-$10K/year once certified
  • Cert stipend — course + exam fees paid upfront, not reimbursed
  • Woodland JUSD — heavy Spanish-English bilingual caseload

  • ADOS-2 training, JASPER or ESDM certification, PROMPT training, or prior BCBA collaboration

About Speech Therapy Consulting, Inc.

Speech Therapy Consulting, Inc.

Speech Therapy Consulting, Inc. is a California-based speech-language pathology practice that hires the way we wish someone had hired us. Clinicians get real supervision, fair caseloads, and a leadership team that still sees patients.

We run pediatric clinics, school contracts, and home-health caseloads across Northern California — and we staff them with SLPs who stay because the work is good, not because we trapped them in a non-compete.
